The Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the People’s Artiste of Belarus, Alexander Anisimov, will open a new concert season in the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society devoted to three great cultures — Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian

The premiere of her composition Chagall Passions which is devoted to Vitebsk will play there. “In this composition the author tries to express the feelings concerning the canvases of Chagall, but these are not illustrations, rather inspiration cast by these works, which the composer uses further when she turns to paper and pen,” Alexander Anisimov explains.

Obsequious gesture towards Ukrainian music is the symphonic rhapsody of Leoš Janáček’s — Taras Bulba, cast by Nikolay Gogol’s creativity. “This composition, too, has never been performed in Minsk, but it is very popular in the West,” the conductor explains.

The main accent of the programme, as he said, will be made during the second part of the concert. The orchestra will play the third act of the opera Mazepa, by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and will introduce basic fragments of Poltava by Pushkin. This composition is performed by the popular actor of drama and cinema, Andrey Merzlikin from Moscow, the invited soloist of the Samara Theatre, Irina Krikunova, the Honoured Artiste of Russia, Vasily Svyatkin and the soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre, the Honoured Artiste of Ukraine, Victor Lutsyuk. The programme will be completed by a symphonic picture from the same opera The Battle of Poltava. The exemplary orchestra of the Armed Forces of Belarus will take part in the performance of this composition.

“If we are successful with the new programme, it will be very important curtain-up of the new season. During last season we did not manage to do all that we wanted, and we wish very much that the following season will be striking, powerful for the public and that despite the complexities of economic character and political cataclysms which distract us from spiritual and important things, all the same we would not forget the road to the philharmonic society,” Alexander Anisimov concluded.
