The world’s top table tennis players battled in Denmark, with Ms. Pavlovich taking the prestigious singles championship title for the second time in her career. Victoria claimed gold in 2010 after defeating Austrian Jia Liu in Czech Ostrava.
The third seed left no chance for French Chinese-born Yi Fang Xian in the tournament’s final, defeating her 4:1, and saw similar success in earlier matches. She smashed Daniela Dodean of Romania 4:2 and French Chinese-born Xue Li in the semi-final — 4:1.
Vladimir Samsonov, the leader of the Belarusian national team, took bronze in the doubles but was knocked out of the singles in the quarter-finals, after losing to German Bastian Steger — 0:4.
