Belarusian intelligence officers remove ISIL member from Minsk-Istanbul flight, reports Belarus 1 TV Channel

Russian counterparts informed Belarusian investigators that a terrorist had made plans to fly to Turkey from Minsk National Airport, the Moscow resident, aged 27, having been trained at a camp for members of the Islamic State group.

Minsk was a transit city in the young man’s route to Istanbul. A special agent commented, “This is not the first case. ISIL members have had difficulty obtaining flights from the Russian Federation, so they come to Belarus to use the Minsk-Istanbul flight, for onward travel to Syria.”

The apprehended man may be deported to Russia but is now being questioned. Russian counterparts have confirmed in writing that the suspect is directly related to the prohibited organisation of ISIL.
