Alexander Lukashenko and Steven Seagal exchange gifts
Mr. Seagal is co-operating with Belarus’ major developer of online games. However, it was not just a business trip for the actor who was also taken on a brief excursion around Minsk and had a taste of Belarusian cuisine.
An informal meeting with the President of Belarus also took place. Mr. Seagal confessed that he had dreamt of meeting Mr. Lukashenko and asked for a meeting with the Belarusian Head of State when he was planning his trip to Minsk. He has recently revealed a special fondness for Belarus, particularly due to the fact that he has Belarusian roots.
The meeting with the President was interesting and informative for the guest, with a focus on agriculture as harvesting is currently in full swing. Mr. Seagal was shown Belarus’ most cultivated plants: beet, cabbage and carrots. The tasting of the new harvest was also held in the field. The American guest also watched the harvesting of potato and squash, the agricultural plant that is gradually becoming a traditional crop in Belarus. Some five years ago it was hard to imagine that we would cultivate such crops but Mr. Seagal was extremely interested in them. Over a light dinner at the President’s Residence, the American guests were offered dishes reflecting Belarusian cuisine. They liked kholodnik (beetroot soup), potato and, of course, Belarusian salo (bacon). Natural products were highly appreciated by the Americans.
