Grodno region is attractive to Lithuania from the point of view of tourism. This is due to the proximity of the borders. About 400,000 Belarusians visited this country last year. Lithuania works hard to popularize its tourism capabilities. The other day in the FEZ «Grodnoinvest» Belarus and Lithuania have presented to each other their tourism potential, reviewed investment proposals and projects of mutual cooperation.
According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Belarus Evaldas Ignatavicius, tourism is only one of the components of cross-border cooperation. He noticed that Grodno seems to be the first regional capital, which has a great cultural and historical heritage.
— It’s high time for us to go to a higher level of relations in the economic, cultural, social, tourist fields, — the ambassador said. — The Lithuanian delegation came to Belarus with concrete projects, some of which are already being successfully implemented in the Grodno region. We have plans to build a network of supermarkets and a BMW dealership with sales and aftersales services here.
The volume of foreign trade of Grodno region with the Republic of Lithuania in January-March 2013 excedeed $ 36 million.
