July is a holiday month. Probably, this is coincidence, but just a historical one. Exactly on July 3 there is a main national holiday in Belarus — Independence Day (the Day of Republic). 63 years ago in 1944 Minsk was liberated — exactly this date is chosen a symbol of nationhood of a young sovereign country. For no other reason than that in modern society the great value of victory in the Great Patriotic War, when Belarus lost each third of its citizens, is still acutely and painfully realized. It is impossible to forget, it is always worth remembering.
The holiday July 3 is yet as young as a country itself. However, it is more ponderous than a usual holiday. Undoubtedly, the Independence Day reflects a contemporary Belarus, with its newest history.
Certainly, this is an event, which is supported by the anniversary of the country’s liberation from fascism. The feeling of freedom, a tribute of memory to the veterans for their act of bravery in the name of a new life — perhaps, the most valuable, that unites people over the last years. The tradition of gratefulness to the soldiers-liberators has been living uniquely placed in Belarus for 63 years already. It firmly took roots in the consciousness of Byelorussians and did not yield to any corrosion. The reflection of the past in today’s reality is seen, undoubtedly, exactly this way, in such a way it will, probably, take shape in the future.
It couldn’t but be seen that this year the Holiday of July 3 was celebrated with a particular accent to the contemporary sovereignty of Belarus. In addition, when many people together sing a Hymn — this, indeed, amazes.
A great many of not simple tasks, which went before the society today, make us find forces to reach high goals. Moreover, if we do not unite, then it will be extremely hard. It is impossible not to understand this.
“Life like a holiday” — this is just a comparison, a metaphor. There is not such an idyl in every day life. Even a holiday in life is an event. The Day of Republic, which was celebrated by the country on July 3, noted itself not only in the national meaning, it, what is important, was conceived by people as a day of good mood and rest. The capital lived by this holiday brighter than ever: on the avenues — many people, meetings and smiles...
There is such a feeling that this day became a culmination, a peculiar result of something essential. As a matter of fact, there is highness of achievements in all this. The essence of life, where there is a place for holiday.
On the pages of a regular issue of the magazine we speak about those features, which are peculiar to an active personality. One would think, through the routine of matters, but there is a visible purposefulness, openness, and goodwill. Isn’t it human wealth?
In July, by the way, there is one more holiday. At first sight, purely musical one. However, while talking about “Slavianskiy bazaar in Vitebsk”, it is not quite like this. Vitebsk festival, which was carried out for the sixteenth time, became an event of international scale. Undoubtedly, it occupied its place in the world cultural space. However, it also became an embodiment of national achievements. All this together attracts attention to “Slavianskiy bazaar in Vitebsk”, also makes it a holiday peculiarity of July.
