The document, signed in Kiev, guarantees transportation of 4m tonnes of light oil annually to Mozyr Oil Refinery by Ukraine’s oil-transportation system, via the Odessa-Brody pipeline. The agreement is to run for two years, with the option of renewal by mutual agreement.
The signing follows a successful trial delivery of 80,000 tonnes of oil via the Odessa-Brody pipeline in November 2010. The route is clearly economically feasible. Ukraine’s trunk pipelines are ready to pump oil to Belarus, while preserving the reliable and fail-safe transit of Russian oil to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary (in line with contractual obligations).
