Beach football players take ‘silver’

St. Petersburg tournament final sees national team of Belarus lose to one of Russia’s strongest clubs: Petersburg’s Kristall.

National team coach Ruslan Pernai was unable to play two of his strongest beach footballers, Vadim Bokach and Denis Samsonov, in the final match due to them having been given yellow cards, leaving the squad at a disadvantage which cost them dearly. On the way to the final, the Belarusian squad won four games in B preliminary group: first, beating Moldova (4:1), then Samara’s Krylia Sovetov (7:5) and St. Petersburg’s FC.CITY (9:3). In the semi-final, our beach football players defeated Moscow’s Dynamo (4:2). Forward Oleg Slautin was named top scorer of the tournament, with nine goals to his name.

The new Euro League beach football season will see our national team compete in Moscow, in A division, against the Russians, French and Dutch: matches are scheduled from June 12th to 14th. The second stage will be held from August 7th to 9th, and the grand final is planned for August 20th to 23rd, in Estonian Pärnu.
