Art project will go down to the metro

Art has always been an integral part of society. It influences us, develops taste and forms ideas.

But in the modern world, at times we simply cannot find the time to go to a museum or to visit an art exhibition, so the Minsk metro decided to remind us of the importance of art. Starting in September, reproductions of pictures of well-known artists from the National Art Museum collection will appear on trains of the city lines.

Six canvases of well-known masters from Belarusian, Russian and West European art were chosen for the metro project. In the near future, visitors of the Minsk metro could see fragments of works of such talented painters, as Ivan Shishkin, Ivan Aivazovsky, Vitaly Tsvirko, Ivan Khrutsky and others on the carriages.

The art project is being held on the 75th anniversary of the National Art Museum — the largest depositary of cultural valuables in Belarus.
