ACCESS TO INTERPOL

Secretary General’s Office of Interpol took decision on buying equipment for Interpol national central bureau (NCB) of Belarusian MIA to connect to database of International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO).
As Oleg Pekarsky, NCB head, informed reporters, this will allow remote access of regional offices of internal affairs to databases of ICPO-Interpol. In perspective, Interpol Office in Belarus will grant access to databases of Interpol Secretary General’s Office to magistrate, district and other offices of law enforcement agencies, which will facilitate efficiency of crime exposition and suppression.

As you may know, Belarus joined Interpol in 1993. Since then cooperation with this organization is among priorities of law enforcement bodies of our country. They improve information exchange and perform coordinated mutual operations.

35th European regional ICPO-Interpol conference will be held in Minsk in May 2006. This was decided at 74th Interpol General Assembly held in Berlin.

According to Oleg Pekarsky, “the conference will facilitate activation of cooperation between law enforcement agencies of Belarus and ICPO members, aimed at fighting illegal migration, human beings traffic, drug traffic, illegal turnover of weapons and cultural values, economy crimes and legalization of income from criminal activity. Exchange of opinions will contribute to cooperation improvement regarding specific crime cases and materials — first and foremost, regarding cooperative investigation of organized criminal groups.”
