For every 100 citizens, there are 117 mobile users: an index which places Belarus high among CIS countries and among other European states, notes the Deputy Information Minister of Belarus, Dmitry Shvedko. “In the richest countries, there is an average of 128 mobile users per 100 residents; in developing countries, this index is 89 people, giving a worldwide average of 96 people.”
Currently 98.4 percent of Belarus has mobile network coverage, giving access to 99.9 percent of people. Belarusian operators are following global trends, with various novelties introduced in Belarus earlier than in other CIS countries, according to Mr. Shvedko.
