Russia’s Primorsky Krai interested in Belarus' experience in developing sports infrastructure
The President of Belarus’ National Olympic Committee, Viktor Lukashenko, met with the Governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, in Vladivostok – as reported by Belarus’ NOC in its Telegram channel
The parties discussed interaction in the sports field and recognised the positive results achieved over the past two years. Viktor Lukashenko explained that some Belarusian athletes had training camps in Primorye before the 2020 Olympics and later performed well in Tokyo.
“This September, a kayaking and canoeing competition was held in Vladivostok, with participation of our leading athletes. They spoke positively about the organisation of the tournament. Belarus is ready to further expand co-operation with Primorsky Krai, while proposing new projects," Viktor Lukashenko stated.
In turn, Oleg Kozhemyako thanked the Belarusian side for welcoming the teams and athletes of Primorsky Krai at its training camps: i.e. the Admiral hockey club enjoyed this opportunity before the start of a new KHL season. “Our infrastructure will be very convenient for Belarusian athletes for their further participation in competitions in the Asia-Pacific region. Primorsky Krai is actively liaising with Belarus in the economic and sports spheres. We have purchased ice filling machines, snowmobiles for ski trails and other high-quality equipment that is necessary for athletes in our region. Many modern sports facilities have been built in Belarus, and we are interested in design solutions that we could use in construction of a hockey centre, an athletics arena, and a rhythmic gymnastics complex. I hope projects in this area in our region will be implemented much faster owing to the help of our Belarusian partners and taking into account your experience in construction of sports facilities," he added.
The NOC President and the Governor of Primorsky Krai also recognised the importance of active co-operation between Belarus and Russia’s Far Eastern region in the economy and sports to ensure dynamic development of relations within in the Union State.
