Lukashenko: West and US want to prolong conflict in Ukraine as much as possible

The West and the United States want to prolong a conflict in Ukraine as much as possible by supplying weapons to this country – as stressed by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at today’s meeting of the CSTO leaders, BelTA reports

“We expected that the West, and primarily the United States, would accept Russia's well-known proposal to launch negotiations on security guarantees. Sooner or later in the foreseeable future, this process will begin anyway. However, it is a question what will remain of Ukraine and our region by that time. So far, in the West, including in Washington, we see only a desire to prolong the conflict as much as possible. To do this, Ukraine continues to be pumped up with weapons. The goals are clear: to weaken Russia as much as possible by drowning it, as they say, in this war – or maybe to make larger territories to burst into flames. We are observing this as well,” Belarus’ President said, adding, “If this is the plan, then probably no one will be able to sit out.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that attempts to dismember Ukraine are the most dangerous trend now, “Thousands of units have already been created in order to enter Ukraine under the guise of peacekeepers and ‘protect’ it."
