Lukashenko to take part in CSTO summit today

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, will take part in the Meeting of Leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation member states in Moscow today, BelTA reports

The event is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the association itself.

As previously reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service, apart from the anniversary-related aspects, the heads of state will exchange views on topical issues of the current situation in the region and the world, discuss joint response measures to emerging diverse challenges and threats. Aleksandr Lukashenko is expected to hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin after the summit, focusing on development of co-operation and joint work on import substitution – among other issues.
