Lukashenko held operational meeting with Government and President Administration

Aleksandr Lukashenko has held an operational meeting on topical issues with representatives of the Government and the President Administration after today’s Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session – focusing on the economy, BelTA reports

An emphasis was placed on the work dealing with counteraction to sanctions. The meeting participants also discussed the functioning of the financial sector and the state of affairs at Belarus’ major industrial enterprises.

The agreements on the results of Aleksandr Lukashenko’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the beginning of the week became a separate topic for discussion. These included, in particular, work on joint projects in the field of import substitution and military-technical co-operation. The issue of building a Belarusian port on the Russian Baltic Sea was also raised.

Taking into consideration the presence of the Foreign Minister, in addition to the representatives of the country’s economic block, the Head of State updated the tasks for the Foreign Ministry – primarily, in the context of communicating Belarus’ position on topical issues to its partners.

As for co-operation with the neighbouring countries, the further work dealing with the right of visa-free entry and stay in Belarus for citizens of Lithuania and Latvia – extended until late 2022 – was discussed. Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed to lift barriers and blockages for residents of these states. In addition, the Head of State made a decision to cancel PCR tests for entry into Belarus.

The Government has been instructed to hold a meeting under the President’s chairmanship in an extended format to sum up the results of the first half of the year. All topical issues will be considered in detail then.

The Belarus President Administration has been ordered to organise work to control the situation in the economy as a whole, ensuring its deep analysis.
