“Based on the results of 2021, there was positive dynamics of economic development of our Union as a whole. For example, by the end of 2021, the total GDP of the Union grew by 4.6 percent, and the total volume of foreign trade in EAEU goods with non-Union countries made $844.2bn. The turnover increased by 35.1 percent against 2020. The foreign trade turnover of the pre-COVID year of 2019 was exceeded by 14.7 percent, or $108.4bn,” Sadyr Japarov noted.

According to the President of Kyrgyzstan, the figures registered in the first four months of 2022 inspire optimism for further economic development. Over that period, GDP growth made 5.4 percent. “In Q1 2022, export operations with the EAEU countries increased by 23 percent, and import operations by 20.7 percent compared to Q1 2021,” he said.

Sadyr Japarov emphasised that the positive changes taking place in mutual trade between the EAEU member states, the recovery of economic activity and the growth of gross domestic production indicate the effectiveness of measures taken by the countries during the pandemic.
