The President of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), said that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism should issue earthquake resistance certificates to hotels and businesses in the food and beverage sector, as tour operators may require reports on this.

It is noted that the interest of tourists to Türkiye in March is likely to be reduced, “Istanbul airport would be overcrowded during this period, but now it is empty. I think that in March there will be a serious decrease in the number of tourists,” said the TÜRSAB Chief.

On February 6th, with an interval of nine hours, powerful earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred in the province of Kahramanmaras in south-eastern Türkiye. Tremors were felt in 11 provinces of the country and neighbouring states, including Syria. Nearly 50,000 people died as a result of the disaster.
