Expert: Belarus needs to develop trade with several countries and not focus on one market
The economy must constantly develop because if we concentrate on only one market, we may end up with nothing at all – as noted by Doctor of Economic Sciences Irina Novikova during her talk with STV TV channel
The specialist underlined, “If we freeze, then indeed the Russians will feed us or someone else. The economy must develop. Moreover, don’t forget that there is a so-called product life cycle. There comes a time when, e.g., one of the Gomselmash models has exhausted itself, but it can be useful in Africa. In this case, we transfer the assembly to the Africans, while we ourselves focus on other areas. We must develop and liaise with several countries at the same time. If we focus on one market, then a situation will arise when we may leave all markets altogether.”
