Constitutional referendum date scheduled: February 27th
On January 20th, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 14 On Calling the Nationwide Referendum, BelTA reports with reference to the press service of the Head of State
In line with the document, the nationwide referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus is scheduled for February 27th, 2022.
The decree names the wording of the referendum question in the voting ballot: Do you accept amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus?
The amendments and additions to the Constitution submitted to the referendum are listed in the decree.
Based on the Electoral Code, the decision registered as part of the nationwide referendum will have a legal force and will go into effect ten days after its official publication. It is established that the decision adopted by the referendum is an integral part of the Constitution.
The Central Commission on Elections and Holding Republican Referenda shall organise the referendum, sum up its results and monitor appropriate legislative execution.
