Chinese FM urged to create conditions for negotiations on Ukraine
In an interview with the Qatari edition of Peninsula, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on all parties to the conflict in Ukraine to create conditions for a ceasefire and peace talks, TASS reports
"Currently, there is still a risk of aggravation and escalation of this crisis. The international community must strengthen unity, combine efforts to achieve peace and take practical actions to de-escalate the conflict. There is no magic bullet to solve the crisis. All parties need, starting with themselves, to create conditions for a ceasefire and peaceful negotiations," the Chinese Foreign Minister said.
Wang Yi also called for ‘resolute opposition to anyone taking advantage of the chaos for their own purposes and adding fuel to the fire’.
Wang Yi reiterated China's support for convening an international conference on resolving the Ukrainian crisis, at which Moscow and Kiev could discuss possible ways to resolve the conflict on an equal footing.
