Bellesbumprom exports likely to reach $1bn by late 2021
27th International Specialised Woodworking-2021 Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Forestry, Woodworking and Furniture Industry launched in Minsk
The Bellesbumprom Concern’s Deputy Chairman, Aleksandr Pshenny, was among those present at the fair opening. He said, “The branch is developing very successfully this year and its exports are likely to reach $1bn. Bellesbumprom enterprises sell products to 65 countries and the growth rate of their supplies has reached 145 percent against last year figures. Europe accounts for 30 percent of all exports. Another 30 percent of products are sold to the far arc states and 40 percent – to the CIS.”
According to the official, all companies of the concern are now reaching their design capacity. Production facilities have enough raw materials and work efficiently which makes it possible to pay off loans, develop further and look into the future with optimism.
Commenting on the increased timber prices, Mr. Pshenny noted that most Belarusian enterprises purchased wood at a lower price at the beginning of the year. “We had to buy more raw materials throughout the year and observed a 2-3-fold increase in prices. However, it was offset by an increase in prices for our finished products, especially in foreign markets. In the domestic market, we sought to balance and limited the price growth. In turn, externally, we were changing prices in accordance with market conditions,” he added.
Mr. Pshenny emphasised that, in woodworking, profitability stands at 17 percent, in pulp and paper production – at about 10 percent. These figures depend on the sphere of activity but all enterprises of the branch demonstrate profitability at present.
The 27th International Specialised Woodworking-2021 Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Forestry, Woodworking and Furniture Industry invites guests until October 29th. Among its exhibits are tools for timber processing, technical means for wood waste disposal and energy production from wood fuel. Devices for energy saving, environmental protection, and software are also on show. The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra (Russia) – has brought its collective stand, while German enterprises present their developments as a separate block. Stands of the participating companies feature new technical tools necessary to ensure a full production cycle – from wood harvesting to deep processing of timber raw materials.
