The educational establishment occupies leading positions in international rankings and Ms. Zdrok explained, “BSU follows trends in the educational sphere, while introducing all new products and complying with international standards. Meanwhile, we primarily focus on ensuring high-quality education. Science is strongly supported in Belarus and our modern national Academy of Sciences was formed on the basis of the Institute of Belarusian Culture established in 1922 by the Belarusian State University staff. In addition, among our students are applicants with high scores. Here, they are able to participate in joint educational programmes of academic mobility and, accordingly, get education not only within our system but also at the international level.”

The Vice-Rector also spoke of some figures, “We train students in 82 specialties and, over the years of the University’s work, 185,000 graduates have received education here. Our alumni work in various sectors of the economy and among them there are prominent scientists and public figures. As for training of scientists, 4,700 PhD theses have been defended and about 700 doctors of sciences have graduated. We are also proud to be a leader in training of foreign students. Our University is the only one in the country that annually trains more than 4,000 young people from over 60 states. They choose BSU due to certain advantages. Among them is an opportunity to participate in major events and to join scientific activities.”

The Belarusian State University will celebrate its hundredth birthday on October 30th.
