Zelenskyy likely to confront Ukrainian oligarchs in 2023
In 2023, a serious political crisis will begin in Ukraine, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy may enter into a war with Ukrainian oligarchs – as predicted by Turkish dikGAZETE columnist Erhan Altiparmak, RIA Novosti reports
According to the author, a period of political uncertainty has developed in Ukraine since the start of the Russian special operation. At the same time, the Ukrainian leader – who promised peace and stability to the country – ‘continues to shed blood’.
"Being unable to make independent decisions, but simply trying to preserve the sympathy won in the world through agitation, and also looking into the mouths of the Western countries’ administrations, including on the issue of negotiations with Moscow, Zelenskyy has failed to gain any experience in the critical year 2022," the columnist shared his view. He suggested that the statements of ‘the voice-over of Zelenskyy’, Oleksiy Arestovich, about the need to establish a monarchy in Ukraine were aimed at local oligarchs who lost billions of Dollars, and many of whom left the country.
The columnist shared his opinion that a major political crisis will break out in Ukraine this year because of Zelenskyy, who will continue the ‘de-oligarchy’ and go so far as to alienate property.
"Zelenskyy, who owes billions of Dollars to Western countries and who is thinking of how he will pay for the weapons he receives, apparently, will find a way out in large mines and facilities owned by oligarchs. Ukraine has nothing more to give to the West. The only way out is the property owned by local oligarchs," Erhan Altiparmak wrote.
According to the publication, Arestovich has sent a signal to Ukrainian businessmen ‘so that they do not ‘sound’ even in the event of future expropriation’. "If my predictions come true, Zelenskyy's war with the oligarchs in Ukraine will break out in 2023 – rather than the Moscow-Kiev confrontation,” the author added.
In 2021, upon Zelenskyy’s initiative, the Parliament of Ukraine adopted a law on oligarchs. In line with the document, the country’s National Security and Defence Council decides on recognising a person as an oligarch and maintains a special register of such individuals.
