Xi Jinping says China is ready for Olympics
China is ready to host the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing and hopes to ensure their safety – as announced by President Xi Jinping at a session of the International Olympic Committee, TASS reports
“The Olympic Winter Games in Beijing will open tomorrow evening. The whole world is turning its eyes to China, and our country is ready. We will do our best to deliver the world streamlined, safe and splendid Games,” Xi Jinping stressed.
The Head of State added, “The world today, under the combined impact of changes unseen in a hundred years and a once-in-a-century pandemic, is entering a new period of turbulence and transformation and facing multiple challenges to humanity.”
According to Xi Jinping, by preparing for and organising the Winter Games, China has successfully engaged 300 million residents of the country in sport on snow and ice. "We have also promoted regional development, ecological conservation, green and innovative solutions and the betterment of people’s lives in China," he added.
