Would-be Belarusian cosmonaut undergoes training under scientific programme

Vladimir Gusakov, the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, spoke about this during the Congress of Young Scientists of Belarus and Russia, which is taking place in Minsk from March 28th to April 1st

According to him, the countries are connected by large-scale co-operation in the field of space, e.g., Yury Borisov, the Director General of Roscosmos State Space Corporation, recently visited Minsk. A number of important issues were discussed, including the further development of the previously created joint constellation of satellites for high-resolution Earth remote sensing, the training of a Belarusian cosmonaut, and the development of co-operation in many areas in the space sector.

“The training of the Belarusian cosmonaut under the scientific programme is now beginning, since it will be a research cosmonaut. This is taking place in Belarusian scientific institutes. Then applicants move to Russia for training on simulators,” he added.
