WHO Chief called on world to return to masks and mass testing for COVID-19

The world must return to tried and tested methods of dealing with a new type of coronavirus due to the increase in the incidence of new strains – as stated by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, TASS reports

He noted that he cannot but be alarmed by the increasing number of hospitalisations and deaths among those infected. In this regard, the Director General of the World Health Organisation called on the world’s governments to actively apply tried and well-proven measures, including the wearing of masks, increased room ventilation, and testing and treatment protocols.

The coronavirus pandemic is ‘not even close to over’, he said, but its nature is changing.
