West and Ukrainian leadership aim to provoke Russia, political expert says

A hysteria currently observed around Ukraine and increased firing by Ukrainian military across a ceasefire line in the settlements controlled by the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic are links of one chain – as noted by political expert Aleksei Dzermant in his talk with Alfa Radio

“It seems to me that the information-driven preparation and accusations of Russia's possible aggression were necessary for the West to try to accuse the Russian side of the aggravation of the situation [in Donbass]. Various signals have been received since last autumn that Ukraine is preparing a military operation: it still hopes to somehow return the DPR and LPR territories. Of course, Russia saw that military preparations were underway and that Ukraine was being pumped with weapons. It was also carrying out certain manoeuvres to show that Donbass will be under Russia’s protection. At the same time, the West launched an information hysteria, asserting that it was Russia that was going to attack. This is an informational and military-political game. The events – that are happening now – indicate that the West and the Ukrainian leadership want to provoke Russia and involve it into a conflict. Naturally, the country is not interested in real military operations since this will require resources that can be directed to other spheres. In turn, the West needs them, and there is objective data to confirm this. The number of attacks and the ammunition used by Ukraine indicate that it is they who are doing such things under the guise of an alleged fear of some kind of aggression,” the expert commented.

“The Americans and the British want to unleash the conflict again and to involve Russia into it, while the Ukrainian politicians and military simply act as a tool for this. They are trying to provoke. Public opinion in the West is prepared. A rather mean game is underway with an aim of making the conflict to flare up,” Mr. Dzermant added.
