Washington believes it’s China that can convince DPRK to abandon missile launches
The US believes that China can play an important role in persuading North Korea to stop launching missiles and not continue these provocations – as stated by a high-ranking administration official at a special telephone briefing dedicated to the visit of US Vice President Kamala Harris to Thailand, TASS reports
As part of a telephone conversation, the official noted that the United States is in regular contact with China on the issue of North Korean missile launches.
“We think that Beijing should play a role. That is why we are bringing this issue to the UN Security Council for discussion,” he stressed.
According to him, Washington sees in Beijing someone who could use its influence to convince the DPRK to abandon missile launches, as the United States believes that these actions by North Korea will destabilise the situation.
North Korea has conducted 34 missile launches since the beginning of the year, with almost half of them from September 25th.
