Voskresensky about ‘fugitive’ critics of draft Constitution

The criticism of the draft Constitution, which comes from the ‘self-proclaimed opposition leaders’, is illogical. Moreover, these critics, most likely, have not even read the entire draft document, politician and member of the Constitutional Commission, Yuri Voskresensky, shared with views with Belarus 1 TV channel – as reported by BelTA

According to the presenter and blogger Andrei Sych, criticism of the draft Constitution is heard from abroad from the ‘so-called opposition’, allegedly it was written under the President in office in order to strengthen his positions.

“The political forces located abroad, in their predominant composition, have not even read the draft document. By the way, they are called not even the opposition, but the fifth column. Because everything they advocate is directed against Belarus. Not even against Lukashenko or other high-ranking officials. Everything is directed against Belarus, Belarusian enterprises, Belarusian people,” said Yuri Voskresensky.

As an argument, he noted that now actually two drafts of the Constitution are being submitted for public discussion and choice: one – the current version, the second – with amendments. It is necessary to choose either one or the other. During the preparation of the second variant – the constitutional reform – it was possible to make one’s own proposals to it. “We held 31 round tables, with 10 of them tackling the constitutional reform. As a result, we adopted a memorandum. So, we invited them [opponents – BelTA’s remark] to each of these round table discussions. We wrote to them by e-mail and begged them to send any suggestions. Not a single answer came either from any ‘democratic’ political party or from these self-proclaimed opposition leaders,” said Yuri Voskresensky.
