Von der Leyen, Borrell and 14 European commissioners arrived in Kiev
Key European officials have arrived in Kiev on February 3rd to hold a joint meeting with the Ukrainian government on the eve of the EU–Ukraine summit, TASS reports
As noted by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, the delegation has arrived in Kiev ‘to convey the strongest signal of the EU support to all Ukrainians’. He added that European aid to Kiev amounted to 50bn Euros since the beginning of the conflict.
It is reported that the board of the European Commission, which has arrived in Kiev, includes its Head Ursula von der Leyen, Josep Borrell and fourteen key European commissioners. Among them are the EC Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders, for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, for Crisis Management Janusz Wojciechowski, for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, as well as Vice President for Values and Transparency Vera Yurova and for Promoting the European Way of Life Margaritis Schinas.
