Volfovich said Belarus’ Armed Forces are in constant combat readiness

Our country is ready to respond to the aggravation of the situation and any challenges from outside – as stated by Aleksandr Volfovich, the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, during his talk with Belarus 1 TV channel

He stressed that the aggravation of the situation by the United States and the collective West leadership against the backdrop of a special operation being carried out in Ukraine poses a threat to the security of European countries.

“Groupings are being created around Belarus, our neighbours are arming and militarising which presents certain challenges and threats to the security of our country. Looking at how neighbouring Poland is arming today and what measures it is taking in regard to its armed forces, fears appear by themselves. Just a few days ago, 100 Korean-made K-2 Black Panther battle tanks, self-propelled howitzers, were unloaded in the Polish port, which will go into service with the newly formed 18th mechanised division of Poland. Abrams battle tanks are also being purchased,” Volfovich said.

He also recalled that about five military exercises were held near Belarus’ borders last week on the territory of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

“Today the grouping in Europe is 18 battalion tactical groups of constant readiness, with 10 battalion tactical groups of constant readiness deployed directly at the borders of Belarus on the territory of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. Based on this, we must also keep our battalion tactical groups in readiness, inspect them, and be sure that our Armed Forces will be ready to fight back and protect the territory of Belarus,” Mr. Volfovich added.

The State Secretary of the Security Council also noted that the military budgets of America, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia are exorbitant sums. Therefore, there is armament, militarisation, protection from some kind of ‘eastern danger’.

“And those statements, cautious and careless, of the Polish leadership, to put it mildly, on the seizure of the western regions of Ukraine cannot but cause concern and pose a threat to the national security of the Republic of Belarus. Poland is occupying Ukraine with soft power and believes that these territories are primordially Polish. We understand that there is a completely different catch here,” the State Secretary of the Security Council explained.

As Mr. Volfovich said, in the waters of the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas there are more than 21 warships, two nuclear submarines, two aircraft carriers, more than 350 sea and air-based cruise missiles, which are aimed at the western regions of the Russian Federation and all the territory of our country.

“That’s why, we take this into account and, based on this, we build our plans to protect our country. To do this, we keep our formations and military units of the Armed Forces in constant readiness and in good shape. The President keeps it under control: he is informed about it,” Aleksandr Volfovich concluded.
