Volfovich disclosed details of his report to President on military units’ inspection
Aleksandr Volfovich, the State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council, revealed the details of his report to the Head of State regarding the inspection of military units and subunits, which is being carried out by the State Secretariat of the Security Council under the authority of the Commander-in-Chief, BelTA reports
“The Head of State once again received a report on the progress of the inspection, which has now been completed. In general, the President personally oversees and consistently monitors everything related to the preparation of the structural elements of the state’s military organization and remains consistently interested in where our units are being trained and what activities they are undertaking, especially within the Armed Forces,” Mr. Volfovich stated.
The State Secretary emphasised that this is necessary due to the military-political situation surrounding Belarus, “Anything concerning the protection of the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests is a top priority for the Head of State. As a result, the Armed Forces and other structures of the state’s military organisation always receive such close attention.”
According to Mr. Volfovich, the Head of State was informed in detail on the progress of the inspection. All military units placed on alert undertook long marches to the designated training grounds as specified by the order. “Today, control exercises are being conducted at the training grounds focusing on combat training subjects, which include firing, tactics and engineering,” he said. In particular, on October 15th, tank crews are firing standard shells from their tanks, while motorised infantry units are performing control firing from BTR-82 armoured personnel carriers.”
The State Secretary noted that the staff from the State Secretariat of Belarus’ Security Council are continuously present with the units being inspected, overseeing the inspection’s progress. “I have access to information about the inspection process in real time,” he added.
In addition to combat-oriented subjects, the physical fitness of military personnel is also being assessed. According to Mr. Volfovich, this is an important element of monitoring. “In addition to these training sessions, physical training assessment classes have been scheduled with the units. The focus is on strength and endurance exercises, which are essential for soldiers on the battlefield, based on modern combat experience,” he stated.
The State Secretary of the Security Council pointed out that the unique feature of the inspection is that it is being conducted at the end of the military academic year. The military personnel have completed a full spectrum of activities, ranging from individual training to unit co-ordination. “They are showcasing the skills acquired during combat training exercises within military units and subunits. This inspection will allow us to determine if all necessary elements have been incorporated into the combat training programmes for our troops,” Mr. Volfovich emphasised.
The journalists also asked the State Secretary about how the military units and subunits were chosen for inspection. He explained, “We don’t randomly inspect the same units repeatedly. In the first half of the year, we concentrated on examining the troops of the Western Operational Command. In the second half, we shifted our focus to the troops of the Northwestern Operational Command, so the priorities are divided. Additionally, we are inspecting our Air Force and Air Defence facilities. We plan control target flights to observe how our Air Force and Air Defence forces detect these targets and respond.”
