Volfovich: Belarus will train military reserve from among its citizens on planned basis
Belarus will prepare a military-trained reserve from among its citizens, and these people will be ready to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity at any moment needed – as noted by the State Secretary of the Security Council, Aleksandr Volfovich, as he visited the units involved in the combat readiness check at the 72nd Guards Joint Training Centre on February 13th, sb.by reports with reference to the press service of the department
The combat readiness check continues in the Armed Forces. During his visit to the units of the 72nd Guards Joint Training Centre, Mr. Volfovich inspected the training sites at the military training ground and talked with military personnel and instructors.
In his conversation with media representatives, the State Secretary of the Security Council noted that the check had been pre-scheduled, and the reproaches on the part of the West towards Belarus are groundless. “The Armed Forces now have the most intensive time for conducting combat training. Against this background, planned events are taking place in the military units. They are pre-scheduled and are aimed at restoring skills, primarily the military ones. The reproaches of the collective West, the accusations of our opponents that we pose a threat are absolutely groundless. In recent times, the leadership of the collective West has been accusing us of preparing for some kind of aggression and posing a threat from the East. They are concerned about the Belarusian-Russian exercise, which is planned for 2025. There is nothing extraordinary here. Starting from 2009, these drills have been held on a scheduled basis every two years on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and on the territory of the Russian Federation in turn.”
Mr. Volfovich stressed that the joint exercise planned for 2025 is to work out issues and check the readiness of the regional group of troops to defend the territory of the Union State. “All the events that are taking place at present on the territory of the Republic of Belarus related to combat training, with the check of combat readiness issues, are primarily aimed at restoring skills and training the military-trained reserve, as well as inspecting the equipment in storage. After driving through the training ground and talking with the officers and military personnel who were called up just a few days ago, I can see people’s involvement. On a planned basis, we will prepare our military-trained reserve from among the country’s citizens who will gather at the right moment and defend our sovereignty and territorial integrity. The training of the entire military organisation of the state is based on this principle at present,” he said.
Mr. Volfovich stated that he was satisfied with the quality of the training, and he drew attention to the fact that the experience of the special military operation in Ukraine is being learnt from. According to him, an emphasis is placed on the use of unmanned aircraft and protection against it. The issues of tactical medicine are also in focus.
“I am sure that events of the kind will contribute to the protection of our sovereignty and territorial integrity. All this is primarily aimed at issues of strategic deterrence and the prevention of the unleashing of aggression against our country,” the military official added.
