Volfovich: Belarus-Russia strategic planning documents are peaceful in nature

The key feature of both Belarus' and Russia's strategic planning documents is that they are peaceful in nature, State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said before today’s meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State

“The key feature of both Belarus' and Russia's strategic planning documents and the thing that sets them apart from the similar Western documents is that our documents (Belarus’ National Security Strategy, Russia’s National Security Concept, the draft Security Concept of the Union State) are focused on protecting our national interests, looking for ways to neutralize modern challenges and threats. They promote friendship and peace without threatening anyone. Similar documents in the Western countries, in the US, prioritise scapegoating and looking for enemies, militarisation, defence budget hikes and ‘the Eastern threat’. We do not consider anyone our potential enemies or aggressors, but are ready to defend our national interests. Belarus and Russia have always advocated for peace, friendly compromise on all disputes and mutual respect for every country’s sovereignty,” Mr. Volfovich elaborated.
