Visa-free entry to Belarus for citizens of Lithuania and Latvia

Against the backdrop of long-term COVID restrictions, citizens of the neighbouring EU countries do not have the opportunity to visit their relatives in Belarus due to the absence of visas. Taking into account these circumstances, as well as in connection with the approaching Orthodox and Catholic religious holidays, the country’s leadership has granted the right of visa-free entry, departure and stay in Belarus to citizens of Latvia and those having the status of a non-citizen of Latvia, as well as to citizens of Lithuania. Such information is posted on the Telegram channel of the State Border Committee of Belarus.

This category of foreigners will be able to cross the border without a visa at the checkpoints on the Belarusian-Latvian and Belarusian-Lithuanian sections of the state border. This order will be valid from 00:00 April 15th to May 15th inclusive. During this period, citizens of Latvia, as well as those with the status of a non-citizen of Latvia, as well as citizens of Lithuania, can use the right of visa-free entry to Belarus an unlimited number of times and stay throughout the country’s territory.

This category of people is also allowed to visit the border zone without a pass. To do this, when entering Belarus at the checkpoint, it is necessary to verbally inform the border guard about the intention to visit the border zone, indicate the settlements and the purpose of the visit.

The State Border Committee of Belarus also reminded that in order to enter Belarus, all foreign citizens must present a valid document for traveling abroad, a medical insurance, a green card (when travelling by car) and a negative PCR test or a vaccination certificate.
