Virtual reality for doctors

A Hi-Tech Park resident, Proven, has joined the Belarusian State Medical University to successfully implement the technology of training using virtual reality – as informed by the Park’s website

As reported, the Proven platform enables BSMU students to study auscultation –  listening to internal sounds of the body. The new method is used not instead but in addition to standard training.

Moreover, this virtual practice environment has certain advantages. As noted at the HTP, interaction with a real patient might be inconvenient and even create a risk. For example, it’s only possible to hear certain pathologies in one person and students may fail to get acquainted with most pathological sounds of lungs and hearts during their university studies. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic introduces its own changes, significantly limiting the possibilities of interaction with potential patients.

Meanwhile, virtual reality helps students find themselves in a simulation of a real doctor's office, understand at what points it is necessary to listen to certain sounds and interpret their features.
