US says security guarantees for Russia will stop conflict in Ukraine
The West can put an end to the Ukrainian conflict, and to do this, it is necessary to provide security guarantees to Russia – as noted by 19FortyFive columnist Jack Buckby, RIA Novosti reports
Buckby recalled the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron, who shared his opinion that the security architecture of Europe after the end of the special operation should include security guarantees for Russia. The observer believes that the North Atlantic Alliance should take Macron’s suggestion seriously.
“The hostilities in Ukraine could end if NATO leaders take his proposal seriously,” Buckby wrote.
He also shared his opinion that Sweden and Finland should not be accepted into NATO.
“The refusal of Helsinki and Stockholm from plans to join NATO could be the beginning of a Ukrainian settlement,” the observer noted.
