US recorded first cases of malaria in 20 years
In the United States, five people have been recorded as infected with malaria, and these cases have become the first ones in twenty years, TASS reports
The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention reported that four of them were found in the state of Florida, and one in Texas. Specialists appealed to the authorities so that the infected, if necessary, would be given quick access to drugs, and control over the prevention of new cases of malaria was strengthened in the country.
"In Florida, four cases of infection were reported in close proximity to each other. In Texas, one case was recorded. Cases of local infection of mosquito-borne malaria have not been recorded since 2003," the specialists stated.
