US Olympic Committee called for Russia’s participation in Paris Games without national flag
As noted by the USOPC Chair, Susanne Lyons, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the suspension of Russians from the Games hinders sports development
"It may be unpleasant to realise, but the non-admission of Russians throws us back, their return is really important for the Olympic movement. At the same time, we continue to support the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian athletes. The United States supports the search for opportunities to return to competition for athletes who have trained for this all their lives, but we are categorically against them returning under the national flag, while their countries are under sanctions," Ms. Lyons said.
At the same time, she noted: even if Russians are allowed to participate in international competitions, there is a threat that some countries may independently prohibit them from participating in tournaments on their territory.
