US experts named Russian T-90 tank’s advantage
The main advantage of the Russian T-90 tank is its economic accessibility, which enables even not the wealthiest countries to equip their armies with modern military hardware, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports with reference to Popular Mechanics
A low silhouette of the tank makes it difficult to defeat it, and its composite armour with dynamic protection is able to stop anti-tank shells and missiles. Thanks to constant modernisation, the smoothbore 125mm 2A46M cannon is now more accurate.
Meanwhile, the key advantage of the T-90 is its price: even not the richest states are able to pay $2.5-4.5m for a modern tank (i.e. the Korean K2 costs about $9m and the American M1A1 Abrams – $6.1m). Therefore, the Russian tank enjoys steady demand abroad: 600 vehicles were bought by Algeria, 1,100 by India, and 98 by Azerbaijan.
The T-90 is also in service with other countries, while Egypt plans to buy a license and assemble 500 T-90MС tanks on its territory. India wants to buy another 464 T-90MCs and Kuwait is interested in 146.
