The State Secretary of the Security Council, in particular, clarified that the document, which has been working on for a year, is almost ready. “The entire expert community has been involved, in addition to all ministries responsible for certain areas of national security. The document has been updated by almost 70 percent – and this is right, since this is the main document that is developing a mechanism for countering modern challenges and threats,” he said.

Mr. Volfovich recalled that, according to the NATO’s new Strategic Concept approved this year, there is an increase in military activity and the build-up of military groups in the Eastern European region (including on the border with Belarus). “The number of exercises and military troops of the NATO’s united armed forces is increasing – up to 37,000 people, over 200 tanks by now, and so on. This military activity cannot but arouse concern,” he noted.
