During the conversation, the journalist asked about the prospects for the development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and asked if this association will be similar to the European Union.

"This Union [of Belarus and Russia – BelTA’s report] will be more advanced and more stable. Firstly, we will take into account all the mistakes of the European Union in order not to repeat them. And we will use the positive experience that is useful for us. Secondly, we shared a single state in the past: the Soviet Union. We have already tried a lot there. We know what to take from the Soviet past and what will not be useful to us in the future. Therefore, it will be a more powerful, thought-out and advanced union."

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the process of integration of the two states will be progressive and not tied to any deadlines, “We do not set any deadlines for ourselves: 2025, 2030 or some other year. We will progress step by step, while solving problems."

According to the Belarusian leader, at this stage, the task is to implement 28 Union State programme. “I think that, in the next five years, we will solve the tasks under these programmes," the President said.
