UN Secretary General calls for return of Russian food to world markets

Many corners of the world can avoid famine if food from Russia and Ukraine returns to markets – as stated by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, RIA Novosti reports

Mr. Guterres stressed that humanity may face famine in many regions this year, and the situation is likely to get even worse in 2023.

The UN Secretary General is confident that this can be avoided if all join their efforts, since this will make it possible to develop ‘bold and co-ordinated political measures’.

"This means the immediate reintegration of Ukraine’s food production, as well as Russian food and fertiliser production into world markets, and preservation of open international trade," Mr. Guterres stressed.
