UN says sanctions should avoid harming civilians

The UN said that unilateral sanctions should not pose a threat to citizens – as stated at a briefing by the Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, TASS reports

Stéphane Dujarric was asked about possible difficulties with the export of coronavirus vaccines from Russia because of the restrictions imposed by western countries. The representative of the UN Secretary General did not give a specific answer on whether unilateral sanctions will affect the export of drugs against the coronavirus infection.

“What is clear and what our principled position has always been is that sanctions should avoid harming civilians, and that’s been our position,” he stressed.
