UN called on influential parties to encourage Russia and Ukraine to stop fighting

The United Nations calls on the forces that have influence on Moscow and Kiev to encourage the parties to cease hostilities – as stated by the Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Farhan Haq, RIA Novosti reports

Commenting on the countries' discussion of possible deliveries of fighter jets to Ukraine, the UN official said, “We have no position on specific equipment. We are concerned that the hostilities continue, and we want them to stop. So we want all the parties to do everything possible to stop the fighting. In addition, we want those who can influence the parties to do everything in their power to encourage them to cease the hostilities.”
