Ukraine asks Poland and Baltic States to close borders with Belarus and Russia
The Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland, Andriy Deshchytsia, said Kiev is in talks with Warsaw to close Poland’s border with Belarus, UNIAN Agency reports
"We are negotiating with Poland’s Ministry of Infrastructure and the Polish government in order to completely close the borders between Poland and Belarus, even if a decision is not made at the EU level,” Mr. Deshchytsia said.
The diplomat added that Ukraine had addressed other countries with a similar request, “At the moment, our Polish partners are negotiating with their neighbours: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. We have also appealed to these countries to simultaneously close their borders with Belarus and Russia. I think such a decision will be made, and there will be no need to wait for this decision from the European Union. We will then completely block any supplies to Russia."
As it has become known, the Russia-Ukraine negotiations will resume on April 1st.
