Ukraine asked UK for loan to buy nuclear fuel
The President of the Ukrainian Energoatom, Petro Kotin, met with the Chief Executive Officer of UK Export Finance (UKEF), Tim Reid, in London, to discuss granting of a loan to Ukraine for the purchase of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, RIA Novosti reports
“During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of providing the company with a loan to finance the supply of enriched uranium product under a contract between Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company and Urenco, which can be guaranteed by UKEF,” Energoatom’s press service said.
It is known that, since 2010, Energoatom has concluded about three contracts with Urenco for the supply of materials for nuclear fuel production by Westinghouse.
