UK against Russia-Ukraine peace
The Times – with reference to government sources – states that the UK does not want a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine to be concluded too early since it is allegedly nonbeneficial for Kiev, RIA Novosti reports
According to the publication, the United Kingdom is concerned about the actions of its allies who are ‘too eager’ to secure a peace deal. The country's authorities believe a settlement should be reached if Ukraine's military positions improve.
"Some of our allies may be too eager for him [Zelenskyy] to settle. We believe Ukraine needs to be in the strongest possible position militarily before those talks can take place,” a senior government source told The Times, also adding that the United States, France and Germany are the main supporters of a speedy peace deal.
