Tusk: Poland ready to close its border with Germany because of deportation of migrants into the country
Poland may close the border with Germany if Berlin tries to expel migrants to Polish territory – as stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, TASS reports
On the air of the TVP Info channel, Donald Tusk said, “I will be ready to close the border. I told the Germans: ‘If you try to send migrants to us, I will eventually resort to Article 72 [of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU], according to which it will be possible to temporarily suspend the fulfilment of obligations within the community for security reasons’."
The PM stressed that Poland would not comply with the provisions of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum regarding the requirements for accepting migrants from other countries of the community, despite statements from representatives of Brussels that the agreement would be implemented by all states.
