Turkiye not able to accept new wave of Syrian refugees

Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said his country is not ready to accept a new wave of refugees from Syria, so Turkiye is making every effort to ensure that residents of the neighbouring state remain on their land, TASS reports


At the moment, there are up to 4m Syrian refugees in Turkiye.

"We will not be able to accept a new wave of refugees, but we are making efforts to ensure that our Syrian brothers remain on their land. We want the [Syrian] issue to be resolved, as far as possible, by peaceful means," Mr. Akar said, adding that Ankara supports settlement of the situation in Syrian based on UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
